arghhh, still struggling lar with film =(

fumbling over the settings like a damn jakun..

to make things worse, my judgements are pathetic..

i assume an object is 1 meter away from me, pada hal it's just like a few inches away from my nose..

and major culture shock with the variety of lenses, coloured flashes, the mighty splitzer and the other add ons..

haha, but grateful nonetheless, alhamdulillah =)

this was using the splitzer, it turned out "splitted" alrite.. but have to figure out how to make it neater..

p/s: i'll just assume the place i developed my films just messed up my rolls.. hell, she didn't even ask what format i shot in..

instead of going to the zoo to look at caged up animals, mummy and i decided to go somewhere we could see animals in the wild...

u know, in their natural habitat kinda thingy..

somewhere we could get close to the animals, and take tons of pictures for keepsake and to show abah back home and at the same time not get eaten alive..

so we went WHALE WATCHING along the Gold Coast shore!!!

one word: breathtaking =)

this picture was taken with mummy's Sony NEX-3 aka her new toy..

it has a panorama setting which takes giler awesome photos..

dolphins!!!

this pic was taken by mummy, and that's me pointing..

2 dolphins came and swam by our vessel..

but sadly they didn't jump out of the water like what we see in movies =(

the only "action" we got from the dolphins..

fyi, these whale watching tours are not planned..

the whales were not paid to make an appearance like the killer whales in seaworld..

they pop out of the water wherever and whenever they want..

so, us humans had to look out for signs of them...

one of the signs was this bird:

basically this bird looks down at the waters for the whales..

why exactly it does that i dah lupa, huahahaha.. tuh lar, masa orang tuh explain sibuk duk belek2 camera.. kan dah tak dengar important info..

the other sign is by looking for the blow from the whale..

u guys know kan that whales are mammals, so occasionally they need to go up to the surface for O2..

so we were looking around for something like this:

like i said, it wasn't planned, so it took some time til the whales were spotted..

and these whales don't come up and dance in front of us for hours..

they come up to the surface, releases CO2, inhales O2, and within seconds they go back down for a dive..

so kalau dah nampak their blow tuh, jangan lar nak duk berganjak from where you are, coz by the time u actually settle down to take pictures, the whale would've been gone already..

muka dah mula rimas sebab tak jumpa2 whale lagi..

as spotting the whales wasn't easy peasy, the captain of the vessel offered a bottle of champagne to the person who managed to locate a whale first..

so naturally everybody lar was shouting here and there kononnya they've spotted the whales first..

so after many false alarms, the captain finally located a few whales, and then we we're off to tag along the trails of these whales..

next thing we knew, we were surrounded by whales!!!

but they did not appear at the same time, so kena budget2 lar where they will appear next..

see the guys on the jet skis, they we're there to make sure our vessel wasn't too close to the whales..

there's a law stating that any vessel isn't allowed within 100m radius to these whales..

that's the whale's head..

and thanks a bunch to my 35-300mm lens i managed to capture decent shots..

oh, and guess what??

i shot in total manual!!!!!!!!!

i cranked up the shutter to 1/1250 and set the aperture to F5.6, set cammy in continuous mode, and snapped... snapped a lot...

nasib baik lar sekarang zaman digital, try imagine having to shoot 473 shots in film!! berapa kali kena tukar film?? arghhh..

mummy was so intrigued by this lady, everybody on the boat was busy running all over to have a look at the whales, and all she did was run all over the boat to find a place to sleep!!

Domo goes to Gold Coast!!

first and foremost i have to admit i didn't take as much photos with domo as i would've liked..

heck, i was too distracted with all the shopping!!!!

hahahahahahahahaha...

so, pretty recently mummy n abah treated me for a vaycay sempena my graduation..

diploma in food technology, alhamdulillah =)

but abah didn't come along as he had tons of work...

but he helped out in settling the major components of the trip..

not forgetting the damage we did to his credit card, haha...

so it was just me, mom, and domo...

Name di ic: Sony HVL-F42AM Flash Light

Since lighting has been a big issue for me, I finally got myself (with a bit help from mummy n abah) a flash!!!

Obviously it's a Sony since its so hard to get other flashes that's compatible to Cammy..

Wait a minute, everything lar hard to get since everything is not compatible to Cammy..

Balik2 canon, balik2 nikon.. haihhhh...

But it's exactly what I need and I'm really impressed and satisfied with what it can do =)

Taking portraits is much easier, no more white ghost-like complexion..

And also I finally get to take pics at night, as in outside, in the dark... weee..

Call me jakun, but I was like squealing with delight when I was testing out the wireless flash..

So now cammy dah ada extension, heee..

First pic i took while testing the flash, immediately went back into the shop, took out my wallet and started counting my money..

After years of learning physics, only now i really understand that light travels in a straight line and the whole bouncing light on white surfaces crap =D

When I finally finished my first roll, I sent it to the photo studio in kelana jaya, and eagerly waited for them to develop the roll...

Ages ago, exactly 151 days ago, I was in the land of cheap branded jeans and seriously-over-the-moon-sedap-food....

.........and only now baru upload gambar.. muahahahahaha...

ok, righttt... so for those who didn't get my hints or buat xtau tuh, I actually went to Bandung, Indonesia for a lil vacation with....

*tadaa*

mummy, abang, abah..

so since I was on my hollies, I was in-charge of coming up with an itinerary of what to do there...

I included ALL the must-dos according to various websites and blogs, categorized our destinations according to area, allocated various shops to suit each of my family members and even assigned time limits!!!!

and in the end, we ditched my itinerary and decided to go along with the recommendations of our driver, Pak Antis (which sometimes mummy couldn't remember his name, and even called him yes, Pak Pantis)..

so if people were to ask me what to do in Bandung, I would say:

"SHOP TILL YOU DROP MANNNN!!!!"..

and of course try out the authentic and super yummy Sundanese and Padang cuisine!!!

so here's a tiny tiny bit of Bandung =)

our first meal..

so on our final day, we decided to go to Mount Tangkuban Perahu to check out the volcanic craters..

pretty, pretty, pretty view!!!!

we went early in the morning, so the weather was beautiful..

ironically no pics of the view here =(

after mount tangkuban perahu, we were off to Jakarta..

which was totally unplanned ok, cause if we had planned to go there, I would have stayed there another week!!!

so as tourists, we had to go to Hard Rock, Jakarta..

did not take much pics in Jakarta, maybe next time..

Domo found a new friend!!! guess which one???

Conclusion (cewah, mcm lab report plak ada conclusion) :

Had lotsa fun, especially shopping n spending time with the family!!! would so do it again =)

btw, Domo's new friend is the one with the blue mohawk!!!! can u say "Rock On" \m/

Taiping:
1) old skool buildings and people
2) trully mully MALAYSIAN FOOD that rocks!!!!
3) twisted and very funky tress by the lake
4) the sad lil Taiping Zoo (i only remember the elephants, i don't even think there were other animals there)
5) lorong babi dekat pasar

the town is very old fashioned which is kinda scary for a person who finds the sound of zooming cars and honking of horns at 12am very soothing and totally normal..

the pokok(s) at Taiping are very "magical"!!!!

ehehehe, going up was easy peasy, but getting down was like whoa.. daddy dearest actually had to climb up to hold my hand and help me down..

a trip to shi-shi-pore (as what echa would say), would always consist of FOOD, charles and keith,
takashimaya, a trip to mustafa at 4am, polite taxi drivers, jalan2 kat orchard, coolly mooly buildings and one thing that my family and i never fail to do is to reminisce about the time when we were staying there..

DoMo's first HOLIDAY!!!!

Meet the latest member of my family..

Nama: Encik Domo bin KaM-eRa Lomo!!!!
(sempena the the whole Lomo collection that abah won't let me buy, and basically cause i'm still terhegeh-hegeh with beloved cammy).

So official "launching" of Domo to the world was when family and i went to Singapore for a mini vaycay..

*tadaaa* a bit scruffy eyh...

buckle up guys!!

sempena singapore is pretty sucky for halal food, Domo's first meal was a BK's mushroom swiss..

Domo's first stay at a hotel was at Raffles Hotel k, pretty lucky son-of-a-gun...

a sight Domo won't be seeing at other hotels.. gin, whisky, vodka, and another whisky..

both of us shared a "hugongeous" queen/king/emperor bed, we slept with 7 pillows surrounding us *heaven*...

domo's breakfast-in-bed (but not actually in the bed lar, our room had a cute dining table).. scrambled eggs, fresh fruit salad, danish pastries, n hot choccy =)

mummy and domo at the bus.. yes, smarty pants (me) planned to go on the bus system in singapore.. we ended up wasting half an hour waiting for the bus..

destination: Singapore Zoo!!!

then she said "Malyn, my anak hilang!!"..

i pown mcam "heh?", coz i was rite in front of her, and abg was in UTP..

then suddenly i paham, she was refering to Domo!!!

before going to see the org utans, we were on the tram thingy, so my "motherly instincts" told me that he mesti tercicir on the tram ..

so, dgan sifat kesukanan (muahahahaha) dalam diriku, i R-A-N!!!

i ran mcam kena kejar pontianak to the next tram station k (nasib baik x jauh), dgan segala camera2 dan lensa2 dan tripod yg terbentang luas, i ran..

at the back seat of the tram, dear Domo was seating there smiling at me =)

but all in all, Domo had a great time!! he's looking forward for his next holiday!! heee, best part is, mummy found Domo a friend!!!!

not so recently, kita org (my family and i, tpi without abg, so basically my parents and i, hee) originally plan nk g perlis for abg didi's wedding....

tpi x "rock" lar klau x singgah2 here n there =)

so we ended up going to penang, bla bla bla, n dat whole utara area lar...

so ini picture2 nya ya buk...

i just started photo classes!!!

here's what i've learnt (so far)....

1) panning

bapak giler susah okayh this panning thing...

i must've taken like 30 pics n only one turned out ok...

hahahaha.....

my cikgu used my camera n tried panning with it...

his first picture jerh dah cantik, and he said "ni boleh nie"...

i was like "grrrrrrr" =)

2) depth of field

this week's lesson was much much much more easier than the panning thingy.

we had to take same pictures, but using diff aperture settings, mainly to add some effects.

must be a "gurl thang".....

everything is sharp, only the far ends are blurred...

only focus area is sharp, everything else is blurred..
